Then comes the question of cleaning it up, how?

Cleaning the spill

Spilling anything on your carpet or upholstery can lead to significant stains if you don’t clean it up straight away. The first thing that should be done is remove as much liquid from the spill as possible. Place down a tea-towel or a normal towel and soak up as much as you can without applying pressure or scrubbing. Once you’ve got the bulk of the liquid cleaned up you need to use a dry part of your towel and begin dabbing at the stain. Applying firm pressure to the wet area but avoid moving the towel around or scrubbing as this can spread the stain further into the fibres, making it much harder to clean.

Using a white cloth or towel is best as you will see the liquid transferring and can easily tell when the area is as dry as it can get.

Need that extra effort to remove the stain?

Once you’ve successfully dried the area as much as possible, with any luck, you won’t have any stains present, but if you do then there is a simple way to remove it.

This method is ideal for dark coloured drinks, coke, chocolate, coffee, and tea.

First you will need to create a warm mixture with 1-part water, and 1-part white vinegar, get a clean cloth and wet it in your vinegar solution before pressing it into the stain working towards the centre of the stain. If it’s a large or dark stain you can pour the solution directly onto the stain, Work product towards the middle of the stain with a clean white towel. DO NOT spread the stain by scrubbing with a sponge. Leave for 5-minutes (Do not let it dry!)

Using a clean, wet, (preferably) white towel, blot the stain towards the middle. Repeat the process until no more stain is transferring to your cloth.
